Rise of the Nasty Nep-Enuts is the first level of World 3 found in Yoshi's New Island. It marks the first appearance of Ukikis and Nep-Enuts, the latter who exclusively appears in this level. This level is the second appearance of Metal Guys, where Yoshi can swallow them to create Mega Eggdozers to traverse underwater, and it introduces underwater enemies such as Cheep Cheeps, Preying Mantas, and Green Cheep Cheeps. This level's playable Yoshi is the green Yoshi, and Submarine Yoshi is also introduced in this level.
Layout[edit]
Yoshi starts the level in a jungle-like area. There are two platforms, and the ground below contains a Shy Guy and a hidden Winged Cloud that spawns stars. On top of the platform is an Egg Block and a Message Block that warns Yoshi about the level's Nep-Enuts, in which Yoshi encounters the level's first Nep-Enut. Past the Nep-Enut is a slippery platform, and then a tree with a Seedy Sally and an Egg Plant nearby. A second Nep-Enut appears, where Yoshi needs to temporarily force it down in order to traverse a large open space. Over the hill, two Seedy Sallies are on a vine, with a hidden Winged Cloud over a gap that gives an extra life.
In the next area, Yoshi needs to swallow a Metal Guys to sink into the water. After Yoshi clears a way, he can eat a Shy Guy to activate a nearby Winged Cloud, which spawns coins. If Yoshi navigates to a higher cliff on the left, there is an Egg Plant and two Winged Clouds; the Winged Cloud closest to the Egg Plant spawns platforms while the Winged Cloud right of it spawns stars. A second pipe that spawns Metal Guys can be found, where Yoshi can eat to travel an area underwater. After the underwater area, Yoshi can break the breakable blocks to use a Spring Ball, in which there is a platform above with a Shy Guy and some Red Coins. The end of the area has a Whirly Gate which transforms Yoshi into a submarine.
After completing a brief obstacle course, Yoshi reaches an area with an Eggplant, Checkpoint Ring, a Nep-Enut, and the Goal Ring. The area has some Yoshi Eggs Yoshi can pick up. Yoshi can stand on certain trees to make coins appear, some of these coins are Red Coins. The Winged Cloud near the end of the stage spawns coins.
Smiley Flowers[edit]
Smiley Flower 1: Found right after the first Nep-Enut, on top of a tree.
Smiley Flower 2: In a bonus room which can be accessed after the second Nep-Enut. Yoshi needs to swim underneath in a tunnel to access a door. Yoshi needs to jump on Spring Balls and collect the coins available to make it spawn.
